GREENSBURG, Pa. (AP) - A state appeals court has upheld a life sentence imposed last year for a Pennsylvania woman who was the catalyst in the torture death of a mentally disabled woman.

The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports (https://bit.ly/2e3NBfv ) the appeals court upheld a county judge’s sentence for 24-year-old Angela Marinucci on Monday.

Marinucci was 17 when she egged on her boyfriend, Ricky Smyrnes, and five others to torture 30-year-old Jennifer Daugherty in a Greensburg apartment six years ago.

Marinucci had said in her appeal she was a minor when she was arrested and shouldn’t have received a life term without a possibility of parole.

The appeals court found her sentence isn’t unconstitutional. The court says they didn’t review Marinucci’s judge bias claim since she didn’t raise it in previous appeal attempts.
