BILLINGS, Mont. (AP) - U.S. Rep. Ryan Zinke says he’s taking a break from his re-election campaign after his mother-in-law became ill.

Zinke spokeswoman Heather Swift said Monday that the lawmaker is expected to return to the campaign trail later this week. He cancelled several appearances in eastern Montana.

The first-term Republican is Montana’s sole representative in the U.S. House. He’s being challenged by in the Nov. 8 election by Superintendent of Public Instruction Denise Juneau.
