LAS VEGAS (AP) - Las Vegas police have arrested the mother of a 4-year-old girl who suffered life-threatening injuries in an accidental shooting.

The 30-year-old woman was taken into custody Sunday and faces a charge of child neglect with substantial bodily harm.

Investigators say the woman had left her firearm on a chair in a bedroom where children were playing when the gun accidentally discharged.

The child was struck by the gunfire and taken to a hospital in critical condition. Police say she has since been upgraded to stable condition.
