HAMILTON TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - State police say a good Samaritan who stopped to help a driver on an interstate highway in Mercer County was struck and injured by a passing vehicle.

The man was driving southbound on I-295 in Hamilton Township around 11:30 p.m. Saturday when he saw another driver who had struck a deer.

The man pulled over near the Sloan Avenue exit to help the other driver and was standing near the line separating the shoulder from the right lane when he was struck by another car. The driver of that vehicle had swerved to avoid the car that struck the deer.

The injured man suffered a head injury and was being treated at a hospital. But his name and further details on his condition have not been disclosed.
