PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - A new digital textbook will soon be available to teach students about Rhode Island history.
The Rhode Island Historical Society and Providence College partnered to develop the textbook. They’re calling it “EnCompass.”
The textbook will be unveiled at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at the John Brown House Museum in Providence.
It covers consequential topics within the state’s history, starting with Rhode Island’s founder Roger Williams.
The target audience for the textbook is students in grades 7 - 12 statewide.
Educators and students are invited to Wednesday’s event.
The historical society and the college will showcase the first chapter of the textbook, host a brief reception and request feedback.
The Rhode Island Council for the Humanities provided a grant that helped fund the project.
