NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - Federal and state officials are warning people who use the Jackson River near Covington to beware of river fluctuations caused by a pulse release at Gathright Dam.

Officials say the pulse release will occur between 6 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Wednesday and increase water levels in the river by 3 to 4.5 feet.

The release is the fifth one this year and is used by hydrologists to collect data on the river’s water quality.
