LAUREL, Md. (AP) — Authorities say a man carjacked a vehicle after a crash involving at least seven vehicles on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway.

Media outlets report that U.S. Park Police spokeswoman Sgt. Anna Rose said police believe the crash may be related to a robbery at the Tastee Diner in Laurel early Tuesday.

Laurel spokeswoman Joyce Jackson says three masked men robbed the Tastee Diner in Laurel early Tuesday and fled in a burgundy BMW.

Rose says the car hit several vehicles and the driver fired a shot. She says no one was struck, but the man carjacked a vehicle and fled. The vehicle was found in Washington without the driver.

Rose says several people were taken to hospitals with minor injuries. It’s not clear whether the other suspects were involved in the crash.
