NEW YORK (AP) - A 38-year-old New York City man is dead after authorities say he was struck by a car that fled the scene in the Bronx.

Investigators say police were called to a report of an accident involving a pedestrian just after 9:30 p.m. Monday. Officers found David Pajarito-Mendez unconscious and unresponsive with trauma to his head and body.

The Brooklyn man was pronounced dead at the scene.



The crash remains under investigation.

Authorities haven’t released a description of the suspect or vehicle.
