FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - An event is being held in Frankfort to commemorate the 50th anniversary of National Historic Preservation Act and the formation of the Kentucky Heritage Council.

A statement from the Kentucky Heritage Council says the daylong event Friday will include sessions on the history of historic preservation in the state and an interactive conversation with a panel of experts in the field. Online registration is offered through Wednesday.

Heritage Council Director Craig Potts said the event will feature successes, losses and milestones of the preservation act in Kentucky and will note work by professionals, volunteers, advocates, leaders and others to preserve the state’s cultural heritage.
