SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. (AP) - Authorities in West Virginia’s Eastern Panhandle say the body of a missing person has been found along the Potomac River in Shepherdstown.

Jefferson County Sheriff Pete Dougherty tells media outlets that a sheriff’s deputy found the body Monday.

The identity of the body wasn’t immediately released. Dougherty says the discovery came after police received a report about a missing male in Berkeley County and that person’s car was later found in Shepherdstown.
