DANBURY, N.H. (AP) - A Danbury ski resort is expanding a snowmaking pond that can hold 4 million gallons of water so it can hold 24 million gallons.

Officials with Ragged Mountain tell WMUR-TV (https://bit.ly/2d6b8pP ) the expansion is part of ongoing efforts to make skiing and snowboarding more affordable and improve experiences for guests.

The pond will feed into a pond at the base of the mountain that can hold 10 million gallons of water.

The TV station says the resort obtained a terrain alteration permit from the state last week and has begun construction.

Officials say the resort has also installed several new pipes on some important trails to improve snowmaking efficiency on beginner terrain, often needed early in the season.
