WASHINGTON (AP) - Metro rail service is operating on a Saturday schedule for the Columbus Day holiday.

Metro says that the rail system will operate trains every six to 12 minutes during daytime hours Monday and that off-peak fares will be in effect all day. Metro says parking at Metro-owned lots and garages is free. The rail system will close at midnight.

Metro says buses will operate on a modified Saturday schedule, and some post-midnight trips will be cancelled.
