Writer Dave Eggers has put together a list of famous artists for an anti-Trump campaign that will last until Election Day.

Singers and songwriters completed two volumes of anti-George Bush songs for 2004’s “Rock Against Bush.” Now, 2016 has “30 Days, 30 Songs,” which aims to put a dent in Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s support. Alternative rock band Death Cab for Cutie, headed by Ben Gibbard, released the first creative salvo on Monday.

“A million dollar loan, nobody makes it on their own. Without a million dollar loan, you’ll reap what you’ve sown. A million dollar loan, call your father on the phone,” Mr. Gibbard sings on the aptly named “Million Dollar Loan.”

The band said on its YouTube page that the song was inspired by Mr. Trump’s claim that he is largely a self-made man.

“Not only has this statement been proven to be wildly untrue, he was so flippant about it,” Mr. Gibard said. “It truly disgusted me. Donald Trump has repeatedly demonstrated that he is unworthy of the honor and responsibility of being President of the United States of America, and in no way, shape or form represents what this country truly stands for. He is beneath us.”

Some of the other artists and bands that have contributed to Mr. Eggers’ effort include R.E.M., Aimee Man, Jim James and Thao Nguyen.

“From Woody Guthrie to Public Enemy, we know that songs can change minds, and particularly now, we need to motivate voters to stand against bigotry, sexism, hatred and ignorance,” the writer said in a statement, Entertainment Weekly reported Monday.

Tracks will be released each day through Nov. 8 on Spotify, Apple Music and the “30 Days, 30 Songs” website.
