FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) - A Florida judge must now decide whether to let a family’s gigantic Christmas display continue or close it as a safety hazard.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel reports (https://bit.ly/2dyFPtF ) that Broward Circuit Judge Marina Garcia-Wood heard closing arguments Friday in a lawsuit filed by the city of Plantation against Mark and Kathy Hyatt.

The Hyatts’ display attracts thousands of guests to their front lawn. The city says the attraction is a nuisance and safety threat as visitors walk between cars parked on a nearby street.

The Hyatts say the display is protected by the freedom of religion. Their attorney, James Helf, told Garcia-Wood that the visitors are orderly. He said the display is for the “betterment of the community.”
