SAN DIEGO (AP) - A Southern California woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for smuggling 26 pounds of fentanyl from Mexico.
The San Diego Union-Tribune reports (https://bit.ly/2eUm1wB ) that 43-year-old Graciela Poteciano, of Chula Vista, was sentenced Monday after previously being convicted in July.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers found the fentanyl, an opioid painkiller, hidden in a spare tire attached to the undercarriage of her pickup truck when she drove through the San Ysidro Port of Entry in May. Officers also found 10 pounds of methamphetamine and 6 pounds of heroin.
According to court documents, the drugs had a combined street value of more than $159,000.
