JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) - Mountain States Health Alliance and East Tennessee State University officials have received final approval to open an addiction treatment clinic in the Johnson City suburb of Gray.

The Johnson City Press reports (https://bit.ly/2fD0P1w) that on Tuesday, the Johnson City Board of Zoning Appeals unanimously approved a special exception to allow the non-residential substance abuse facility.

It will be the first clinic in the Tri-Cities approved and certified to administer methadone.

The clinic was announced in May and has cleared several administrative hurdles.

Lindy White, CEO of Woodridge and Franklin Woods hospitals, says the project will now enter “an aggressive work completion plan,” which will include renovating the current building and adding additional parking spaces.

White says the clinic should be up and running by late July.
