MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont utility regulators are continuing to refine a plan to govern the installation and management of small, local electrical generation projects in the state.

The rules that would govern “net-metered” project outline how much the developer would be paid for the power produced by those systems.

The rules being proposed by the Public Service Board set different price levels for locally produced power to encourage siting in developed areas like roofs, parking lots, landfills and gravel pits.

The new rates would not affect the rates paid to existing net-metering customers for a period of ten years from when those customers installed their systems.

A public hearing on the proposal is scheduled for Nov. 18 in Montpelier.
