MISSOULA, Mont. (AP) - A former Missoula public school teacher and librarian has left her estate to the foundation for the Missoula Public Library’s children’s programming.

The Missoulian reports (https://bit.ly/2eRYDzK ) that Lorraine Jay’s $500,000 donation marks the foundation’s first permanent endowment.

Foundation Chair Frank Scariano says the endowment should add more than $20,000 annually to childhood education funds in the library. The endowment will be spent on programs, staff, books or other resources the library administration deems necessary.
