PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Police have identified a shooting suspect shot and killed in a confrontation with Philadelphia police.

Police say a 44-year-old man drove himself to a hospital Monday evening with gunshot wounds to his back and told authorities where they could find the shooter.

Police say 31-year-old Darryl Chisholm of Huntingdon ran from police Monday night in north Philadelphia and pointed a gun in the direction of one of two sergeants at the scene, and one fired at him.

Investigators say he fell to the ground and dropped the weapon, but reached for a second firearm that he had also dropped when he fell. At that point, two sergeants and two officers fired, hitting him in the torso and both thighs. Chisholm was pronounced dead minutes later at Temple University Hospital.
