George W. Bush snubs Donald Trump, refuses to vote for Republican nominee

A spokesman for George W. Bush has admitted that the former president snubbed Donald Trump in the voting booth.

Radio host Rush Limbaugh fueled speculation Tuesday that Mr. Bush turned on the Republican Party’s presidential nominee and voted for Democrat Hillary Clinton. Spokesman Freddy Ford stepped forward to correct the record with the Texas Tribune — but not in a way that will be pleasing to the ears of millions of Republican voters.

“They didn’t vote for Hillary; they didn’t vote for Trump,” Mr. Ford said of the 43rd president and his wife, Laura.

The Bushes, now openly in the “Never Trump” camp, did vote for Republicans the rest of the way down ballot.

“We’ve been told by President George W. Bush’s office that President Bush did not vote for Hillary Clinton as was reported on today’s show. He voted two weeks ago and did not vote for her,” Mr. Limbaugh’s website said in a statement published Tuesday night.

Jim McGrath, a spokesman for George H.W. Bush, added further insult to injury to the Trump campaign by declining to speak on the subject.

“We are not commenting on the presidential race,” Mr. McGrath said, the newspaper reported.
