PHOENIX (AP) - Authorities say a Phoenix man who allegedly tried to stage his girlfriend’s suicide has been arrested for manslaughter in her death.

Bond was set at $750,000 at the initial court appearance Monday for 26-year-old Curtis Lee Andre Crawford.

He doesn’t have an attorney yet.

Police say the shooting death occurred Saturday afternoon after an argument outside a home.

Crawford originally told police that his girlfriend fatally shot herself inside the home after stabbing herself several times during the argument.

But court records show that Crawford told police that he accidentally shot his girlfriend and was scared to tell investigators what happened.

Police have yet to release the name of the woman.
