DETROIT (AP) - Detroit police say a man fatally shot himself following a short foot chase during which an officer fired at the man and missed.
Officer Dan Donakowski says officers responded about 3 a.m. Monday to a 911 call reporting a man assaulting a woman at a hotel.
The Detroit News reports that the man ran when he saw police, pulled out a gun and was fired upon once by an officer. The man’s name wasn’t immediately released.
WDIV-TV reports no officers were injured. The shooting is under investigation.
