FLAGLER BEACH, Fla. (AP) - A 1.3-mile section of A1A that was washed out by Hurricane Matthew’s powerful waves has been reopened exactly one month after its closure.

The Daytona Beach News-Journal (https://goo.gl/JqikqJ) reports that Gov. Rick Scott joined local officials in Flagler County Monday for the road’s reopening. Motorists had been detoured to nearby residential streets since Oct. 7, when Hurricane Matthew skirted the state.

On Oct. 20, Scott directed the Florida Department of Transportation to expedite the restoration of two-way traffic on the road in Flagler Beach.
