SEATTLE (AP) - Repairs are slated to begin on the section of the Burke-Gilman Trail that runs through Seattle’s University District.
Seattle Parks and Recreation says work will begin on Monday.
Cyclists and pedestrians who use the popular urban trail will be detoured around the construction area onto side streets. The contractor will work on one section at a time, moving from east to west. That will reduce the impact on trail-users.
The project will remove broken asphalt and invasive roots that cause the trail to buckle.
Repairs should be done by early 2017.
