EDISON, N.J. (AP) - A driver accused of causing a deadly crash on a New Jersey highway is now facing charges.

Middlesex County prosecutors say the crash in Edison occurred around 3:15 a.m. Saturday.

They say Christopher Ravita was southbound on Route 1 when he ran a red light and crashed into a car driven by Ronald Setlight. The 74-year-old Edison resident was driving on Grandview Avenue and was crossing Route 1 when he was hit.

Setlight was taken to a hospital but died there a short time later. Ravita was also hospitalized for observation, but further details on his injuries were not disclosed.

The 29-year-old Lebanon man is charged with death by auto. His bail was set at $50,000.

It wasn’t known Sunday if Ravita has retained an attorney.
