SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) - A 21-year-old university student has been indicted in the deaths of a man and his unborn child after police allege she caused a crash while driving drunk.

Court records show Shana Elliott was indicted last month on two counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle and one count of intoxication assault with a vehicle.

If convicted, Elliott faced up to 20 years in prison.

Authorities say Elliott was driving home after floating the river in San Marcos on Aug. 2 when her car veered across the center line and collided with the vehicle of 24-year-old Kristian Guerrero and her husband, Fabian Guerrero-Moreno.

Fabian Guerrero-Moreno was killed in the crash and his wife, who was pregnant, was injured. The couple’s unborn child died from injuries sustained in the collision.
