EMERSON, Neb. (AP) - College students from across the state are converging on the town of Emerson in the northeastern corner of Nebraska to help fix up school property.
The college student volunteers are at Emerson-Hubbard Public Schools this Saturday to paint bleachers, walls and playground equipment, trim shrubs, clean classrooms and wash windows, among other things.
The “Outreach to Teach” volunteer project has been organized by leaders of the Student Education Association of Nebraska, a 60-year-old affiliate of the Nebraska State Education Association. About 100 students are expected to attend.
All of the volunteer college students are teachers-to-be.
