HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Nearly 3,000 active, retired and honorably discharged military members are expected to march in this year’s Connecticut Veterans Parade in Hartford.

The procession - billed as the largest veterans parade in New England - is scheduled to begin at 12:30 p.m. Sunday near the state Capitol and proceed around downtown Hartford.

An hour before the parade, a wreath-laying ceremony is planned at the Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Arch to remember all veterans.

A moment of silence will be held at 1:30 p.m. Marchers will stop to honor military members who died while serving their country. The Connecticut Air National Guard will fly a C-130H cargo plane over the procession at the end of the moment of silence.

Government officials and marching bands also will be in the 17th annual parade.
