LOWMAN, Idaho (AP) - Forest service officials say a fire that burned about 294 square miles in central Idaho is finally 100 percent contained.

The Idaho Statesman reports (https://goo.gl/YVp89a ) that firefighters are collecting remaining equipment and signs and that less than a mile of dozen line repair work remains in the area, according to Boise National Forest officials.

The blaze started July 18 and largely burned timber in rugged terrain.

Officials say the cause of the fire, which at times threatened the town of Lowman, remains unknown.
