WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. (AP) - A 76-year-old former school volunteer has pleaded guilty to taking inappropriate pictures of young girls at the Winston-Salem school where he worked.
The Winston-Salem Journal (https://bit.ly/2fKB7IU ) reports that Walter O. Schorer was sentenced to 10 months to 30 months in prison after pleading guilty Thursday to two counts of third-degree sexual exploitation of a minor.
Schorer, who worked at Diggs-Lathan Elementary School, had been named the school district’s “Volunteer of the Year” in 2014.
A CVS pharmacy employee called police last year after noticing Schorer printing photos that focused on the crotches and buttocks of clothed, young girls.
A Forsyth County prosecutor said Schorer also had a picture of a young girl sleeping on his lap on a school bus. In the photo, Schorer’s hand was inside the girl’s pants.
