FIFE, Wash. (AP) - Authorities say a man fleeing police on foot jumped a fence and ran onto Interstate 5, where he was struck by vehicles and killed.

The southbound lanes of I-5 in Fife were briefly closed Friday morning after the incident.

Washington State Patrol Trooper Todd Bartolac says Fife police were chasing the suspect on foot. KOMO reports ( https://bit.ly/2e8yikx ) Detective Sgt. Tom Thompson of the Fire Police Department said police were called because of an unwanted guest at a nearby motel.



Officers contacted the man, then discovered he had outstanding warrants. Police tried to arrest him, but he ran and jumped a fence to get on I-5.
