Comedian Dave Chappelle will host the Nov. 12 edition of “Saturday Night Live,” NBC disclosed on Friday. It will be his first time doing so, Variety noted.

The comedian has had a relatively low profile in the public eye since wrapping up his Comedy Central program “Chappelle’s Show” 10 years ago. Popular bits from the program, however, live on as popular YouTube clips and internet memes.

Mr. Chappelle’s “True Hollywood Story” sketch about Prince and the Revolution besting Charlie Murphy in basketball particularly saw a resurgence in popularity following the April death of the rock music legend.

Comics often use the show’s opening monologue as a stand-up set, and Mr. Chappelle has elsewhere reported to be hard at work fine-tuning fresh material.

On Oct. 30, New York Post gossip site Page Six reported that Mr. Chappelle was working on a new routine in performances at New York City’s Gramcery Theater and the Cutting Room.

“Fans were not allowed to record the gig or take pics, and even had their ’phones stored in soundproof cases’ till the concert was over,” Page Six said, citing unnamed sources.
