LEBANON, N.H. (AP) - Lawyers for the Dartmouth-Hitchcock system say they want an arbitrator to decide on allegations by a former cancer center director that he was forced out of his position for whistleblowing.

The Valley News reports (https://bit.ly/2f9BQQD) the lawyers say the lawsuit filed by Mark Israel, the former Norris Cotton Cancer Center chief, violated a provision of a deal that he had agreed to months earlier. They say that agreement called for Israel to step down on Sept. 30, but retain his position as a professor until June 2019.

Israel’s lawsuit said he was ousted after he objected to the diversion of funds raised for cancer research. He became the Norris Cotton director in 2001.
