Russian air defense systems in Crimea have been put on hair trigger alert after Ukraine declared airspace of Crimean territorial waters a “danger zone” due to upcoming missile tests announced by Kyiv. Crimea has become a crisis flash point over the reported “abduction” of Russian nationals in the area by Ukrainian security services in the last week.

The Russian newspaper Komsomolskaya Pravda reported Wednesday morning that both Russian land-based and sea-based anti-aircraft forces in the Crimea are now operating in an “enhanced regime,” reported Tsarizm.com.

The announcement also comes on the heels of Russia announcing it has moved two motorized infantry divisions to the Ukrainian border. Violence in the disputed Donbass region has also recently flared as progress in peace talks with European governments proves fleeting.
