CODY, Wyo. (AP) - Wildlife officials are investigating after five mule deer were killed and left to waste near Cody.
The Cody Enterprise reports (https://bit.ly/2e5jBPe ) that Powell Game Warden Chris Queen says the killing has sparked a poacher investigation with a reward of up to $5,000 for information leading to a conviction.
Queen says the five deer were likely killed Saturday or early Sunday and that by the time he found the carcasses the meat had begun to spoil, so none could be salvaged.
Queen says none of the meat was harvested and it appears the shooter killed the deer and then drove off.
