RIVERDALE, Ga. (AP) - A 17-year-old Clayton County high school junior has been found shot dead about a mile from his home.
Clayton County police Deputy Chief Joseph Woodall says the body of Cedric Clark was found Wednesday morning in the backyard of a Riverdale home.
News outlets report the investigation prompted school district officials to place Clark’s school, Charles Drew High School, on a soft lockdown for the remainder of the school day. During a soft lockdown, all exterior doors are locked, but parents can enter the school with proper identification.
Investigators believe Clark was shot Tuesday night.
Clark was a member of the ROTC as well as the school’s football, basketball and baseball teams.
