MONROE, Ore. (AP) - An Oregon town has a new iron sign welcoming travelers.
The Register-Guard reports (https://bit.ly/2eE1ITX ) that the small town of Monroe, located just north of Junction City with about 600 residents, has installed an iron sign created by sculptor Wade Skinner. It incorporates images that represent Monroe’s history in timber, Christmas tree cultivation and the wine industry.
Skinner owns Western Art Gallery in Junction City. He installed the artwork along Highway 99 West on Wednesday.
The sculpture weighs more than 1,500 pounds.
