WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) - A Wilmington firefighter who was critically injured in a fire is being released from the hospital.
WDEL-FM (https://bit.ly/2eCYkIL ) reports that Brad Speakman is being released from Crozer Chester Medical Center in Chester, Pennsylvania, Thursday morning.
Wilmington Fire Department Chief Anthony Goode says Speakman is being provided with a firefighter and public safety escort. Goode called the occasion encouraging and joyous.
Speakman suffered burns to over 30 percent of his body while fighting a Sept. 24 fire at a home.
A second firefighter remains in critical condition after suffering burns to over 70 percent of her body. Two other firefighters were killed in the fire.
A resident of the home has been charged with murder and arson in connection with the fire.
