NEW YORK (AP) - Thanksgiving on Broadway was a typically stuffed event, with box offices recording a $35 million haul thanks to premium pricing and “Hamilton” raking in more than $3 million by itself.
The 34 shows earned $35.3 million for the week ending Sunday, a Thanksgiving week record. The holiday - usually Broadway’s second-biggest revenue generator - improved on the $33.8 million generated during the same period last year. But attendance was actually lower than last year - 282,959 this year versus last year’s 288,018. There were also four more shows last year.
The huge revenue haul this year also masks that the amount of money earned so far this season - $695.3 million - is less than the $697.4 million earned at this point last year.
