GULF SHORES, Ala. (AP) - The Gulf Shores City Council has approved another ban on alcohol from its beaches.

The Press-Register reports (https://bit.ly/2g1c8gY) the council, with unanimous approval Monday, approved an alcohol ban for 2017 spring break. The ban applies to everyone, and no alcohol can be possessed or consumed on a beach within the city limits from March 4-April 16.

When Panama City Beach officials decided to prohibit booze from its beaches this year and implement a curfew on its bars, spring breakers fled to Gulf Shores for a party.

Police Chief Ed Delmore said Monday crime and chaos followed.

The council, on March 18, hastily approved an alcohol ban on its beaches through mid-April. The result, Delmore said, was a “night and day difference” with spring breakers sharing the beach with families.
