BUSTI, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities say a man has died after accidentally shooting himself while hunting in a rural town in New York state’s southwest corner.

Fire department officials in Busti in Chautauqua County say crews responded around 12:50 p.m. Monday after receiving a call about a hunting accident in the rural town located on the Pennsylvania border 60 miles southwest of Buffalo.

Officials say it took emergency responders using all-terrain vehicles several minutes to locate the man in a heavily wooded area. Authorities say he had suffered a fatal gunshot wound.



The man’s name hasn’t been released.

His death is being investigation by local police and the state Department of Environmental Conservation.
