ANALYSIS/OPINION:

Luxury haircutter Cristophe salon has unveiled a classy new look for its District location in Northwest. The District location — one of four in the company’s profile — has been patronized by the likes of the Clintons and other politicos for decades. The founder himself will even be on hand Wednesday evening as the business celebrates its grand reopening.

The Washington Times was invited to experience the renovated outpost Northwest for a hair trim. The 18th St. location is on a rather busy corridor, and parking can be at a premium, so your best bet might be to take the Metro to Farragut North.

The exterior of Cristophe blends D.C. chic with a welcoming atmosphere, which is heightened as the patron steps into the lobby staffed by pleasant professionals, who offer up a beverage of choice upon entry.

After a thorough wash and shampoo, I was ushered to the chair of stylist extraordinaire Alex Fontaine, a native of France with a charming, easy manner. Typically I show barbers photos of how I like my hair done, but as Alex is a master stylist, I gave him free reign over my locks to his liking — within reason, of course.

Alex’s manner and professionalism were unrivaled, and after a few minutes more, he unveiled his creation with the hair given to me by, well, “creation.” It was different than what I normally gravitate to, but Alex left the top curls longer than I typically ask for, and it was fine counterpoint to the deeper trims he left at the sides.

The proof is in the pudding, as both my boss and my girlfriend gave their stamp of approval.

One now waits to see if President-elect Trump will soon use Cristophe as his cutter-in-chief rather than his go-to pro in New York. C’mon, Mr. Trump, we have quality barbers here in D.C.
