Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus, who will serve as President-elect Donald Trump’s chief of staff, said Monday that Mr. Trump is going to be a president for “everyone.”

“It’s really important that all Americans understand that he is a president for everyone,” Mr. Priebus said on “Fox & Friends.” “He wants to make everyone proud, whether your race, ethnic background, gender — anything.”

“In 20 years, we want every American, no matter who you are, to look back at President Trump and say wow, this person did an incredible job and he led our country with honor and dignity. That’s what President Trump wants, and we just want everyone to know that,” he said.

Mr. Priebus called Steve Bannon, who will serve as chief strategist and senior counselor to Mr. Trump, a “force for good” on the campaign.

He said Mr. Bannon is “really on the same page with almost everything that I agree with, as far as advising President-elect Trump.”

Mr. Bannon, the former Breitbart News executive, was the Trump campaign’s CEO.

The Anti-Defamation League and the Council on American-Islamic Relations have criticized the appointment of Mr. Bannon, saying he’s closely tied to the ethno-nationalist “alt-right” movement.

“I find him not to be the way that he’s being accused. I find him to be the opposite,” Mr. Priebus said on ABC’s “Good Morning America.”

“And I think people need to give people time and give people an opportunity and not make judgments,” he said. “Don’t judge people based on what other people say.”
