CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Police say two pedestrians have died after being struck by vehicles while crossing a roadway together in suburban Detroit.

Officers responded Sunday evening in Wayne County’s Canton Township and found that a 54-year-old Westland resident and a 45-year-old Inkster resident had been struck. The older victim was pronounced dead at the scene and the other died at a hospital.

Names weren’t immediately released.

Police say the 54-year-old was struck by what witnesses described as a 2013-2016 dark blue or black Dodge Caravan or similar vehicle that left the scene and then was hit by a car that did stop. The 45-year-old pedestrian was struck by an SUV, whose driver stopped.

Police are looking for the driver of the van, which is believed to have significant front-end damage.
