LEXINGTON, N.C. (AP) - Lexington police say a man and woman are dead after being struck by an Amtrak train in Davidson County.

Lexington police say in a news release that they got a 911 call from Amtrak shortly after 1 a.m. Monday stating two people had been struck on the tracks.

The victims were identified as 48-year-old Carmen Ruiz and 48-year-old Rafael Patricio, who lived at the same address in Lexington. Investigators haven’t said if the couple was in a vehicle or walking when they were struck.



The train involved was traveling to Charlotte from Charlottesville, Virginia, and had 130 people on board. No other injuries were reported.
