NEW HAVEN, Conn. (AP) - The Shubert Theater is donating tickets to the Department of Children and Families so troubled youth at the Connecticut Juvenile Training School and two other facilities can see “A Christmas Carol.”
The New Haven theater is providing 40 tickets to the classic holiday show.
Joette Katz, commissioner of the state’s child welfare agency, says young people at CJTS in Middletown and the two Albert J. Solnit Center campuses in Middletown and East Windsor will “feel important and valued by the adults around them” by having the chance to see the theatrical performance.
Earlier this month, the Shubert was the site of the state agency’s kickoff for Adoption Awareness Month. A photo gallery of children in state foster care waiting to be adopted is displayed in the theater lobby.
