President Obama will hold a press conference Monday afternoon at the White House before departing Washington on his final foreign trip.

It will be Mr. Obama’s first news conference since the election of Republican Donald Trump. The White House announced the press conference Sunday night, as President-elect Trump was appearing in his first television interview on “60 Minutes” on CBS.

Mr. Trump has been busy taking congratulatory phone calls from foreign leaders and choosing his top advisers for the new administration.

Mr. Obama is leaving late Monday on a weeklong trip to Europe and Peru that will focus on reassuring anxious allies about the continuing of U.S. foreign policy despite Mr. Trump’s stated intent to undo some of the president’s top initiatives.
