President-elect Donald Trump is expected to soon announce his pick for White House chief of staff, transition team adviser Kellyanne Conway said Sunday.
Mrs. Conway told reporters at Trump Tower that the decision is “imminent.”
“Imminent means coming soon,” she said, according to a pool report.
The top contenders for the job, which will be one of the first key slots filled in the Trump administration, are Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus and Trump campaign chairman Steve Bannon, former executive for Breitbart News.
“He’s very busy up there meeting with different people,” said Ms. Conway, who previously served as Trump campaign manager. “It’s been very exciting.”
She said that. Trump and the transition team were having a “busy day.”
“It feels like winning Wisconsin all over again,” she said, referring to Mr. Trump’s upset win in the longtime Democratic stronghold.
Ms. Conway also confirmed that Mr. Trump had spoken with former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, who was a fierce rival in the GOP primary race and refused to back Mr. Trump as the party’s nominee.
“They had a very productive call,” she said, “incredibly gracious.”
