BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) - Authorities say an elderly woman was killed when a South Florida commuter train hit her car.

Local media outlets report that the crash occurred Friday morning.

Boca Raton police say the 87-year-old woman drove through railroad-crossing gates just before the Tri-Rail train hit her. It wasn’t immediately clear why the woman ran the gates.



No other injuries were reported. The roadway remained closed for nearly six hours.
