SAN ANGELO, Texas (AP) - San Angelo police say an armed man suspected of assault has been fatally shot in a gunbattle with officers.
Sgt. Travis Griffith did not immediately release the name of the man who was killed Thursday afternoon. No officers were hurt.
A police statement says the man was wanted for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and a suspect in another aggravated assault in recent days.
San Angelo police were joined by state and federal officers in the search for the suspect. Investigators say officers located the man, who flashed a gun and fired multiple shots. Officers returned fire, striking the suspect - who died at the scene.
Details weren’t immediately released on which officers fatally shot the suspect.
